Banská Bystrica - Metropole of Central Slovakia

The Banská Bystrica Town Castle, a national cultural monument, represents a characteristic feature of this central Slovak mining town.

It also symbolizes the whole Banská Bystrica region, which is rich in beautiful landscapes. In medieval times Banská Bystrica used to be a mining center that featured the mining of gold, silver, and copper. Copper was exported on ship via Polish ports to distant countries like Portugal or even Benin on the west coast of Africa.

The heart of the town is the Slovak National Uprising Square with the Marian Column and the Leaning Clock Tower, The Town Castle Barbakan is in the background with the Church of Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Town Hall, burgher houses, etc. You will find the beautiful Calvary Hill above the town. As one of the first towns in Slovakia, this mining town has been proclaimed a landmark conservation area.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL IN BRATISLAVA

Arrival at the airport, meeting with the local guide, transfer to Bratislava, check-in at the hotel ***, welcome drink, overnight.

DAY 2 – TOUR OF BRATISLAVA, THE CAPITAL CITY

After breakfast tour of Bratislava and its historical monuments, a visit to the most important places of the capital city, lunch, departure to Banská Bystrica, and accommodation in the hotel*** in Banská Bystrica

DAY 3 – BANSKÁ BYSTRICA - VILLAGE VLKOLÍNEC

After breakfast tour of Banská Bystrica and its historical monuments, a visit to the most important places of the city, lunch, departure to the village Vlkolínec, visit this village, and return back to Banská Bystrica

DAY 4 – KREMNICA - BANSKÁ ŠTIAVNICA

After breakfast departure to the medieval mining towns Kremnica and Banská Štiavnica, a tour of Kremnica and its historical monuments, a visit to the most important places of the town, lunch, departure to Banská Štiavnica, the tour of Banská Štiavnica and its historical monuments, visit of the most important places of this town listed by UNESCO, return to Banská Bystrica

DAY 5 – ZVOLEN - KOVÁČOVÁ

After breakfast departure to the town of Zvolen, a tour of Zvolen and its historical monuments, a visit to the most important places of the town, lunch, departure to the Kováčová spa resort, visit the Holiday park with thermal water, return back to Banská Bystrica

DAY 6 – LOW TATRA MOUNTAINS

After breakfast check out from the hotel in Banská Bystrica, departure to the Low Tatras, tour in the Low Tatras, lunch own arrangements, visit the Bystrá cave, departure to Tále resort, accommodation in the hotel****

DAY 7 - ORAVA CASTLE AND RAFTING ON THE RIVER ORAVA

After breakfast departure to the Orava Castle, a guided visit of the Orava Castle, lunch, rafting on the Orava river, and return to Tále

DAY 8 – DEPARTURE

After breakfast check out and departure
